Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Zendaya, Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, and Kim Kardashian were among those spotted front row at Pharrell’s runway debut as Louis Vuitton’s new creative director of menswear Tuesday, June 20. Stars such as Willow and Jaden Smith, Megan Thee Stallion, Lenny Kravitz, Naomi Campbell, Coi Leray, Kelly Rowland, and Tyler, The Creator were also in attendance while rappers Pusha T and No Malice of The Clipse walked the runway in Williams’ designs.
Timed at sunset, the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2024 collection was presented on the Pont Neuf bridge in Paris and featured over 70 looks, a runway that resembled LV’s Damien print, new music from Pharrell and No Malice, as well as an orchestra and choir. You may have seen the iconic viral video of Beyoncé and Zendaya dancing to Pharrell’s song “Joy” that played during the show. If you haven’t seen it you can watch it below.
Williams was named the new creative director of LV back in February succeeding the late Virgil Abloh who passed away in 2021 from a battle with cancer. “Virgil has always been a brother in spirit. Now, that is literally what we work with here. He left a lot of hits with the House. As far as I’m concerned, I’m collaborating with his spirit. I’m honored. When he got this appointment, I was happy for him… It was crazy what the connections were, and the respect he had for us, and which we continue to have for him. I can tell you that Virgil and me being here has to say to kids who look like us, ‘Oh, I can do anything. I can be anything,’” Williams said according to Vibe.
