Beyoncé Shares New Photos and a Special Message About Renaissance

It’s rare that we get an inside look into Beyoncé’s life, it’s that level of mystery that keeps her on a pedestal. She’s the queen of surprises always keeping us guessing like when she removed her social media profile pictures before announcing the new album. We love a good surprise!

Beyoncé’s website got an update with new photos and a message from Bey about her new album RENAISSANCE just ahead of its release. “This three act project was recorded over three years during the pandemic. A time to be still, but also a time I found to be the most creative”, Beyoncé wrote along with a selfie of her sleeping children Blue, Rumi, and Sir. She also included a throwback photo of her mom Tina Knowles-Lawson with their cousin Jonny who Beyoncé refers to as uncle Jonny.

She then continues in the message to give thanks to her kids, ”I want to give a thank you to Rumi, Sir, and Blue for allowing me the space, creativity, and inspiration.” She also thanked her uncle Jonny who introduced her to the music that inspired RENAISSANCE, “A big thank you to my uncle Jonny. He was my godmother and the first person to expose me to a lot of the music and culture that serve as inspiration for this album”. You can hear Bey shoutout uncle Jonny on “Heated”, the 11th track on the album saying, “uncle Jonny made my dress”.

Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world. It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving. My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgement. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration.
