Joe is the Most Scared He’s Ever Been in ‘You’ Season 3 Trailer

Joe Goldberg is back and he’s facing his biggest fear—fatherhood.

You season 3 premieres October 15th and the first official trailer has arrived. The long awaited preview opens up with Joe revealing his fear of becoming a father.

“In my history of scared, this is the most scared I’ve ever been”, Pen Badgley’s character Joe says as he looks at his newborn son. But, despite his fear Joe tells his son that being his dad is changing him and continues to say, “for you I’d move to some soulless suburb, for you I’d marry the monster—your mother, Love. What could go wrong?”

The question should be, what couldn’t go wrong? Joe is still the same ol’ Joe. Although he was obsessed with Love (Victoria Pedretti) at the beginning of last season, his view of her soured when he witnessed her commit murder, you know as if he’s . Now, Joe has found a new obsession—their neighbor Natalie (Michaela McManus). Joe narrates, “things will be different this time”. If by different he means worse than the previous obsessions then he’s right about that.

Throughout the trailer Joe and Love call each other a “team” while the darkness that’s to come flash in between. We see Love opening up a bakery and then hitting someone in the face with a rolling pin (while a sinister version of Britney Spears “Baby One More Time” plays), new characters such as Marienne (Tati Gabrielle) a suspicious librarian, and a therapist who isn’t very good at her job because she tells Love and Joe that they are many things but not murders—uh yeah, sure lady. The trailer ends with Joe and Love burying a body with their baby there, cooing and Love narrates “til’ death do us part”.

Other new faces include Ryan (Scott Michael Foster) a single dad and TV reporter with a history of addiction, Sherry (Shalita Grant) a not so nice mommy influencer, and Matthew (Scott Speedman) a successful CEO, husband, and uncommunicative father.

The official logline for the new season reads,

“Joe and Love, now married and raising their baby, have moved to the balmy Northern California enclave of Madre Linda, where they’re surrounded by privileged tech entrepreneurs, judgmental mommy bloggers and Insta-famous biohackers. Joe is committed to his new role as a husband and dad, but fears Love’s lethal impulsiveness. And then there’s his heart. Could the woman he’s been searching for all this time live right next door? Breaking out of a cage in a basement is one thing. But the prison of a picture-perfect marriage to a woman who’s wise to your tricks? Well, that’ll prove a much more complicated escape.”
