Issa Rae announced her marriage to longtime beau Louis Daime with gorgeous photos of their private South of France wedding.
Issa Rae, 36, has been very private with her life especially her love life. How the “Insecure” actress posted about her wedding was in the most Issa Rae way possible. Rae wrote this hilarious caption for the wedding post:
“A) Impromptu photo shoot in a custom @verawang dress.
B) My girls came to help me, but they all coincidentally had on the same dress! They were sooooo embarrassed.
C) Then I took a few flicks with Somebody’s Husband.”
Everyone on the internet has been admiring Rae’s decision to keep her relationship with Daime on the low. In a 2020 interview with The Hollywood Reporter when asked about her cast-mates putting her 2019 engagement on blast and why she prefers to keep things in her personal life private, Rae responded saying, “I guess because it’s private. Whose business is it? I realized I just don’t like to be the subject of conversations if it doesn’t have to do with my work. I’ve always been like that, where I’d be dating someone and my friends would find out six months later. Like, “Bitch, what the fuck? Why don’t we know this?” So it’s just always been that I want to vet situations for myself. I really value that part of my life a lot.”
“Somebody’s Husband” AKA Louis Daime and Issa Rae have possibly been in a relationship since 2012. Daime appeared briefly in Rae’s first web series Awkward Black Girl back in 2011 (fast forward to the 4:04 mark).
During her 2021 Rolling Stone cover story interview, the interviewer, Britany Spanos, mentions the man present in the house she assumed was Rae’s fiancé Daime because they weren’t introduced. Spanos described him as being, “masked in the presence of a rare pandemic house guest.” She continues, “Later that week, when I join Rae for her early-morning stroll, he stays on the opposite side of the street, keeping the pace and minding his business.”
Rae goes on to tell her that she’s super protective of every relationship that she’s in and the reasoning behind it.
“That’s come from observing and making fun of people over the years who broadcast the most intimate parts of their relationships, then are left with egg on their face. I call them the ‘me and my boo’ people. Let me embarrass myself. Don’t let a nigga embarrass you. That’s always been my focus.”
She said yes, to these dresses.
Issa Rae wore two gowns, one for the ceremony and one for the reception. Both of these gowns were custom Vera Wang, duh.
Yes, Rae’s Insecure cast-mates were there.
Yvonne Orji who plays the role of Molly in Issa Rae’s HBO series, Insecure, posted photos of what she wore to her on and off screen bestie’s wedding. Included in a photo and video in the Instagram slide is actor, Jay Ellis who plays Rae’s boyfriend, Lawrence in Insecure. Insecure showrunner, Prentice Penny also made an appearance in Orji’s IG post.
